Yay! I have finally completed decorating k's bathroom. As I mentioned previously, k's bathroom has been almost done for months. I finally got focused and worked on the final details in his bathroom until I was done. Since we all have been sick around here, I did little things each day until I was happy with the results.
Here is the bathroom before the makeover. Please excuse the poor quality of the pictures. These were taken not long after move in and before I had this blog.

What do you think? I am very happy with the way it turned out! It is fun being in there with all the tree decals and the sun above. K loves his bathroom, too. However, he insist that I am the little tree and he is the big one. ;)
One thing I really like about this makeover is that no painting was involved. The neutral color of the existing wall paint works well with the bold colors. This is great if one is unable to paint walls or lives in an apartment. Decals, wall art, and accent pieces can make a huge impact and make up for lost color in a room. For those wondering, the Ikea Smila Sol light is not wired. I had been wanting something on the ceiling bathroom and when I saw the Smila Sol light, I knew I wanted a sun image. I had thought about looking on-line for some sun decals, but decided on the Smila Sol for the size and 3D effect it would have.
I had fun making the wall art above his toilet. The subway art is available as a printable and I may have the ABC art available as well. The wall art that reads Sunshine Maker is k's nickname I gave him when he was born. He can truly bring sunshine to those around him. :)
As always, here is a breakdown of the room.
- Existing wall color - Olympic paint in Tightrope #D15-2
- Light fixture, towel bar, hand towel ring, and toilet roll holder purchased at Lowes. It is the Gatco Latitude 2 Collection.
- Cabinet Hardware - Purchased at the Home Depot.
- Bathtub toy basket - Purchased at Target. It is held in place with two satin nickel Command Strip Hooks.
- ABC shower curtain - Target.
- ABC cup - Target.
- Bathroom rug - Target.
- Bathroom Towels - Target.
- Soap pump and garbage can - Target. I bought these a while ago. Happy I found them in a box in the basement.
- Green step stool - Target.
- Espresso wall shelves - Target
- BATH and the letter K wall letters - Michaels. I spray painted them in Valspar, Indigo Streamer and Island Orange.
- Mini faux succulent plants - Michaels.
- Faux plant on vanity and vase - Ikea
- Picture Frames - Ikea, Nyttja frame. They were white and I spray painted them in Rustoleum, Oil Rubbed Bronze. Be sure to use primer first. Also, these frames are kid friendly since the center is plastic and not glass. :)
- Smila Sol ceiling lamp - Ikea
- Mirror - Big Lots. It was a medium brown and I spray painted it in Rustoleum, Oil Rubbed Bronze. Be sure to use primer first.
- Shower curtain rod - Wallmart.
- Tree decals - Amazon. AMAZING DEAL! $3.39! I bought three of them since I made two trees and wanted to create lots of branches and add my own style to all of them. I did have to use a Elmers glue stick a little bit. I know it was because of the textured walls in the bathroom. As a test, I stuck a decal on the bathroom door and it stuck just fine. At $3.39, I am not going to complain. :) We all know that decals (especially large ones) can get very expensive.
Okay, lets do a side by side before and after. Those are fun!

Looks awesome, I love it!! It is so cute and kid friendly but without being cheesy (I have a hard time with that). Good job!!
ReplyDeleteOh andif you ever decide you want the sun wired, let me know! That's what my hubs does. :)
DeleteThank you, Talia! Yes, I tried very hard not to have the room look "cheesy". lol
DeleteThe sun light is not wired because there is no electrical box there. Ironically, my hubby can do the same thing. :) He did all the electrical in our last house. I did not have the light wired because I only got the light for the sun look and I do not want to have hubby climb in the attic and install an electrical box on the bathroom ceiling (he did do this at our last house in the master bath). :) I did keep all the parts for the sun though.
Wow, you did a great job! I'm a new follower ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) So happy you are here. Yay! Thank you so much for following.

Love the colors and how it came together. That sun on the ceiling is perfect. We're about to do our bathroom and I'm excited!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Have fun doing your bathroom. Is it for your son? Maybe a trip to Ikea for the Smilia Sol light is in the future? :) Have fun decorating and thank you for stopping by. ;)
DeleteJulie
Nicely done! Love, Love, Love the light fixture! {Pat on the back!}
ReplyDelete*glee* Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to stop by. :)

Cute bathroom! Thanks for sharing @ Submarine Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tonna! :)
DeleteWow Julie! It. Looks. Fantastic! The ceiling lamp is so cool! You are so talented, girl! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAwww...thank you so much for your comment. Made me smile! :) Yes, I am totally digging that sun light. lol It really added that final detail I had been wanting and I love how it goes with the trees. :)
DeleteLooks great! I love the colors, and the shower curtain and Ikea light are so fun (we had one of the Ikea kid light fixtures in our old house, in my son's room; never thought of using one in a bathroom--nice!)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love Ikea! One can do just about anything with their stuff. lol
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by. :)
This is such a great kid bath!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nikki! Happy you stopped by. :)
DeleteIt is very nice. I love everything you did here. Terrific job!
ReplyDeleteJudy, thank you so much! :)
DeleteWhat do I think? I think you ACED it! It's the best kid bath I've ever seen, and it's a LUCKY kid who uses it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a rather new follower--I think. I subscribe to blogs and then they fill up my inbox until one day--maybe months later--I take time to check them out and unsub from the ones that are disappointing. From the looks of THIS post, I doubt that I'll ever be unsubbing from yours!
Wow! Thank you very much for the very kind words and support! I am flattered and humbled by your comment. Thank you for following my blog and taking time to leave a wonderful comment. It is sincerely appreciated. :)
DeleteLove this adorable bath, wanted to feature it on "Think Tank Thursday" but your blog won't let me copy and paste a picture?
ReplyDeleteMargo, thank you so very much! Your should be able to copy and paste a picture, in just a few minutes. Let me know if there is a problem. So happy you like the bath. :)
DeleteJulie
makes such a difference! so cute
ReplyDeleteThank you! I had fun putting up the trees and branches. I like that there was no painting involved...this time. My next project required the entire room being painted. lol
DeleteJulie
So cute. I love the personal touches with the printables. I have yet to do my daughter's bathroom even though I keep promising here I'll get to it soon. Nice job mom!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, thank you. I had lots of fun making the printables. The next room will be my daughters bathroom. I have been putting that off. That room will be getting paint. Now that I have done her brothers bathroom, I better get started on hers. lol
DeleteGood luck with your daughters bathroom! :)
Julie
What a perfect little boy bathroom! So fun and finished. I love the printables, shelves, BATH & K letters...well, everything! :0)
ReplyDeleteJen, thank you, thank you! Happy you love the room. :D
DeleteI love your idea for the toy basket in the tub! I plan to do that in ours now... I've had way too many flops. :)
ReplyDeleteKristel, I understand about toy basket flops! I had bought a plastic whale toy bin with suction cups at Target and it lasted about a week. The plastic was not very sturdy and it actually came apart. I saw the metal bins in the bath section at Target and knew it could withstand having mini construction vehicles inside it or whatever else my son deems necessary to bring into the tub. lol
DeleteThank you so much for stopping by and commenting. :)
any chance you'd share your wall art printables?
ReplyDeleteYes. The ABC wall art and the subway art is available. Look at the Labels cluster in the upper right of this blog. Click on printables and it will bring up the post with the above art work. Hope this helps and thank you for stopping by. :)

Marie, thank you! Left you a comment on your blog. :D
DeleteWhere did you get yourr sink? Love it! Also do you have the the sun s a printable?
ReplyDeleteHello! The sink is from the Kohler Kelston collection. I fell in love with the style. It is a big sink. Just be sure to look at the sink and your vanity measurements to be sure you will like the fit. :) I do not have the sunshine maker as a printable. However, I am slowly in the process of creating a Printables page and will probably have it available there.
DeleteThank you for stopping by and taking time to comment. :)
Did you find the shower curtain in the Target store or online? I can't seem to locate it online. Love love love this bathroom!
ReplyDeleteStephanie, so happy you love the bathroom. Thank you! :D
DeleteI found the shower curtain in store. However, I think that line might have been recently discontinued. Maybe you can go to your local Target and see if they might still have it. If not, perhaps they can do a search for you to see if another Target has it in stock. If you are unable to locate the collection at Target, I have seen the ABC collection on Ebay. Ironically, Target just cam out with the ABC collection for the bedroom. Not sure why they would not still offer the bathroom collection.
Good luck and happy decorating! :D
I love EVERYTHING you did the bathroom!! If you don't mind me asking what size are the shelves you bought from Target?
ReplyDeleteHello, Ashley! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. So happy you like the bathroom. :D The shelves are 15 x 4.5. They are the Room Essentials collection. The shelves I used were a two pack for about $15.00. :)
DeleteWhat size frames did you use from Ikea?
ReplyDelete8x10.
